Improvements include a 50 percent lower capacitance with up to 40A of lightning-induced transient protection, increasing their market compeitiveness and value 

The SPLV2.8 and SPLV2.8-4 Series are, respectively, single- and four-channel TVS Arrays for 10/100/1000 Ethernet applications.  The Series include a reduced loading capacitance of 2pF to minimize signal degradation for 1GbE interfaces while providing a much higher level of lightning immunity of 40A (t_P =8/20μs).  Additionally, both devices far exceed the IEC61000-4-2 ESD standard by protecting up to ±30kV (contact discharge).  They will help manufacturers comply with standards such as GR-1089 (NA), ITU K.20/21 (Europe), and YD/T (China).
